Sometimes an interface file may need to be removed from PB Remote before it is sent to QuickBooks. For example, you may discover that one or more transactions in the interface need to be corrected before they can be successfully processed. In that situation, the existing interface file can be removed so it is no longer available to send through PB Remote.

How to Remove the File

  1. Navigate to your pb_transfer folder.
    1. If you are unsure where this folder is located, open PB Remote, select Define Accounting Files, and note the Work Path for the appropriate accounting file. The Work Path identifies the location PB Remote uses for the transfer files.
  2. Open the appropriate accounting file subfolder within the pb_transfer folder. The interface file should be located there.
  3. Remove the interface file from this folder.
    1. You can either delete the file or, as the safer option, move it to a separate folder so that a copy is retained. Internal PropertyBoss procedures use folders such as Processed or Not Processed to move an interface file out of the active location.
  4. Return to PB Remote. Once the file has been removed from the active folder, it should no longer appear in the PB Remote list.

Best Practices

  • Move rather than delete when possible. Keeping the original interface file in a separate folder provides a record of the file in case it needs to be referenced later.
  • Confirm you have the correct accounting file. If you use multiple accounting files, verify the Work Path and accounting file subfolder before moving anything.
  • Do not assume removing the file restores the transactions. Moving the interface file out of the PB Remote queue removes the file from PB Remote, but it does not automatically return its transactions to Pending Interface Runs. Restoring those transactions is a separate process in PropertyBoss.
  • Correct the underlying issue before creating another interface file. If the file was removed because a transaction caused an error, make the necessary correction and review the Pending Interface Runs before generating a replacement interface file.
