How to Set Another Screen as Your Default Monitor

If you have multiple monitors connected and want to choose which one is your main (default) screen, follow the steps below:

Windows 10 & Windows 11

  1. Right‑click anywhere on your desktop
    A small menu will appear.
  2. Click Display settings.
  3. You will see boxes labeled 1, 2, (and possibly 3).
    These represent your connected screens.
  4. Click the monitor you want to make your default.
The selected monitor will be highlighted.
  5. Scroll down and check the box that says:
    “Make this my main display.”
  6. Your taskbar and desktop icons will move to the new default screen.

If you don’t see the option

  • Make sure the monitor is powered on.
  • Check that the display cable is firmly connected.
  • Click Detect in Display Settings if Windows isn’t seeing the screen.
