New Feature: Automatic Expiration for eSign Documents
Previously, eSign documents sent through PropertyBoss remained active indefinitely unless you manually canceled them in Letters. With this update, all new eSign documents will now include a 90-day expiration date.
- If a document is not fully signed within 90 days, PropertyBoss will automatically cancel it.
- The Letter Status will update to Cancelled.
- A new document will need to be sent if the original was not completed in time.
- This applies to all signers, including internal signers.
Note: This change does not affect letters sent before the rollout—those will keep their current status.
This feature will be rolled out within the next 60 days. The monthly release notes will indicate when this feature is live. You can view previous release notes here.

Emails/Letters and eSignature Overview
PropertyBoss offers a streamlined approach to managing communication and document signing. As a client, you have access to features that make it straightforward to create, customize, and distribute notifications. Notifications can be generated using provided templates or Microsoft Word and personalized automatically using merge fields that pull in PropertyBoss specific details.
When it comes to signing documents, PropertyBoss supports digital signatures, also called electronic signatures or eSign documents. eSign provides a level of security by creating a unique electronic “fingerprint” for both the signer and the document. This fingerprint binds the two together, and if the document is altered after signing, the signature is rendered invalid. This helps protect against forgery and ensures document integrity.
These options are available for a variety of communication needs, such as sending notifications to student housing guarantors, referencing tenants’ emergency contacts, or alerting homeowners and management companies about association violations. The system is designed to support fast, secure document delivery and signing, helping you maintain communication standards and compliance across your property management activities.
If you need help activating these features or want to learn more about them, please attend the upcoming webinar on this topic. It is scheduled for September 18 at 2pm EST.
